Elementary School Profile

The American School of Ulaanbaatar (ASU) is an international school founded in 2006. We are a private school with an international accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), based in California, USA. We have two campuses. Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 students attend our elementary campus, with about 330 students for the 2015-2016 school year. Our student population is about 85% Mongolian, but the remainder is comprised of students from 22 different countries. Our Elementary School staff is comprised of 28 teachers from the USA, Canada, Mongolia, South Africa, and the Philippines.

ASU’ s program is based on the Ontario (Canada) curriculum policy documents and uses American methods and resources in an international setting. ASU has implemented this curriculum because of its global applicability, academic rigor and adaptability to the Mongolian culture. Ontario curriculum guidelines detail the knowledge and skills that students are expected to develop in each subject at each grade level. Our overall education program is guided by our Expected Schoolwide Student Outcomes:
